Of all the movies we had in stock, we didn’t think that this one would be good enough for our end of the year holidays. I think that the trailer suggested more psychological stuff than real horror, and you know how much we hate fake horror movies… However, the movie is actually great. It’s so rare to see a movie with a fresh new concept succeed in being different and creepy.
The idea to use an embalmed hand to conjure spirits isn’t the only original thing about the movie… I thought that the casting was also very different from the usual teens that we normally get to see in such a movie. Btw, the movie was banned in Kuwait due to the appearance of trans actor Zoe Terakes. Well, who cares about Kuwait anyway?

Honestly, I thought that the movie we would get after the pandemic would have been a catastrophe flick with The Rock as a scientist who’s saving the world by single-handedly creating the vaccine and dodging evil Chinese spies while jumping from a rooftop to an helicopter and punching an alligator in the face.
Instead, what we got is a slasher movie happening during the pandemic. Well, I’m not disappointed! It’s a good slasher without drama, there’s even a plot twist. Also, it is shot in a dream house.
So, once again, I must thank Covid-19… Not only has it brought us the most interesting year of the last 2 decades and promoted home working while making my inner introvert very happy, but it has also, years later, inspired a not-bad-at-all slasher.
It took us the length of the 7 Harry Potter movies, the last Fantastic Beasts (which is as bad as the 2 first), Moana and almost Lightyear (20 minutes left) to complete the build. It was probably the most entertaining mega build that we’ve done so far. If the castle was lighter, I would turn it to show the detail of the many rooms that are included. From Dumbledore’s office to the giant chess board from the Philosopher’s Stone, the attention to details is incredible.
We watched this movie during the end of the year holidays and I wish that there would have been snow here in Brussels. Unfortunately, just like every other years, it’s only wind and rain.
However, this movie brought enough snow for one evening as we get to spend 95 minutes with four other people during a blizzard, stranded at an isolated highway rest stop in the mountains. One of them is the owner of a van in which is hidden a kidnapped little girl.
Maybe I haven’t watched enough thrillers in my life (I seriously doubt that), but I didn’t predict half of what happens in the movie. We watched it without reading the novel it is based on but I added it to my read list for next year.
The cinematography and score were surprisingly excellent for a low budget B film. All casting and performances were spot-on, especially Havana Rose who nailed the painful scenes and, believe me, there are quiet a few of those.
These are the kind of movies I wish were being made more often. It is relentlessly fast paced and grounded with twists and a solid R rating that they aren’t afraid to use to its full potential.
We had a very good time with ‘No Exit’. It’s our kind of movie and it’s one I would highly recommend.

This is one of the best alien movies I’ve ever seen. The atmosphere is top-notch, with perfect sound design and effects. The acting is INCREDIBLE, Kaitlyn Dever delivers an out-of-this-world performance. Despite the minimal dialogue, she manages to create an incredible ambiance. The gradual reveal of the backstory is a nice touch.
It felt fresh, different and was incredibly fun to watch. Its unique atmosphere creates an eerie experience, unlike any other I’ve seen before.
If you’re looking for a serious horror movie, you’re in the wrong place. Totally Killer is a Halloween meets Back to the Future slasher comedy starring Kiernan Shipka (Jamie), who travels back to the 80’s in a home-made time travel machine, determined to stop the “Sweet Sixteen Killer” before his first kill.
While watching the movie, you see the big difference between generations. It’s funny to see a Gen Z’s reaction when catapulted to the 80’s. Even though, I think it must be more funny in real than in the movie. Most of the new generation would be completely lost in pre smartphone times. If we wanted to do any research in the 80’s and 90’s, we had to go to the library. If we needed to call some one, it was a fixed phone or bust. We didn’t spend all of our time with our nose in a screen, we were hanging out with friends in stead. Life and technology have changed drastically since the 80’s, but I’m not going to start a rant about that cause I’ll end up writing a book.
For those who have lived the 80’s, don’t expect a historically accurate movie. It’s a mindless slasher comedy full of anachronisms:
Several Game Boy games can be seen when Jamie enters the van of Lurch. The movie takes place in October 1987 but the Game Boy was released in July 1989.
Billy’s amusement park has a drop tower ride in several scenes. The first drop tower ride was commissioned in 1996, nearly ten years after the movie is set.
The costume designer, Patricia J. Henderson, was spot-on. I wonder how much time she’s spent in thrift shops, unless she made everything herself (which I doubt). Either way, she did her homework!
TLDR; Totally Killer is a fun movie for a Saturday horror night. As long as you don’t expect an award winning masterpiece, you’ll have a good time.

The “movie critics” claiming that Five Nights at Freddy’s is destined exclusively to the fans of the game are wrong because I didn’t play the game (yet) and I enjoyed the movie very much. It was entertaining, well acted (Elizabeth Lail from You) and the rhythm was never broken by boring drama, which are my 3 most important qualities in a movie.
Unlike most studios using CGI for bringing creatures to life, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop was responsible for the creation of the Fazbear animatronics. The animatronic characters were performed by puppeteers. For shots where the characters weren’t moving, the puppeteers would control both the head and body movements. In the rare instances where a character would walk or dance, a stunt performer would don the costume while the puppeteers controlled the heads remotely.
In January 2023, in an interview, Matthew Lillard revealed he signed a three-picture deal with Blumhouse. Hell yeah, more animatronics!
If you enjoy animatronics and Nicholas Cage as much as we do, give Willy’s Wonderland a try, you won’t be disappointed.

When was the last time that an horror movie really got you scared or, at least, uneasy? You know that feeling, when the movie is over and you turn on all the lights on your way to your bedroom…
It’s getting harder and harder to scare us. You might think that it’s because we’re getting older and we’ve seen it all. Let’s be real here, we’re not older, we still have the maturity of 12 years old kids. Maybe it’s the new wave of horror movies that ranges from slasher to gore and doesn’t even try to be creepy.
However, exorcisms and possessions still do the trick with us. From Paranormal Activity (which remains our favourite horror franchise) to The Exorcist, we still feel something when we watch movies that involve demonic possessions as seen by the Catholic Church. Probably because we’ve been raised that way, being taught the Holy Bible (one of the creepiest story ever written by man).
So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that we enjoyed this movie. We didn’t get scared to the point of taking the flashlight to the WCs, but it gets close to having us uneasy.
Now, about the movie… It was a pretty good. The cast was excellent, especially Jacqueline Byers and Christian Navarro and there even was a plot twist that I didn’t see coming, which is pretty rare in an exorcism movie. All in all, if you’re into that kind of stuff, you should definitely watch Prey for the Devil.

I can count on one hand the amount of times that a workmate advised me to watch a TV show that was really good and Silo is one of them. It ticks all the boxes: great ambiance, mystery, no unnecessary drama and, above all, a fantastic casting.
I think that Rebecca Ferguson is one of the most talented actress of this generation. From the mother of Paul Atreides to Juliette Nichols, she’s exceptionnal.

I originally bought this book for our wedding anniversary trip to Rochehault because Diablo 4 had just been released and I wanted to read something dark. Well, the book isn’t really dark. Quite the contrary, actually.
It’s a real page turner and probably the most entertaining book I’ve read in a long time. Definitely, my book of the year.
In the book, the occultist family’s corporation is named Alchymie Publishing, and the book’s publisher is also named Alchymie Publishing. Could all of this be true (please, be true)?
