The Apparition is about a parapsychology experiment that has gone wrong. Something evil was conjured during this experiment and a young couple discovers that they’re being haunted by this evil presence.
This movie is a perfect example of why we have this blog. We had already watched it quite a while ago, but fell asleep halfway through the story because of the poor acting. Don’t get me wrong the idea is good, I love stories about haunted places or people. This one just doesn’t do the trick.
Normally, when you live in a house where one creepy event after another occurs, you’re supposed to be scared out of your mind. The actors in this movie, however, seemed to be okay with all the supernatural creepy stuff that was happening around them. The last thing I would do if my ceiling was being tainted by something evil, is to casually poke it with a broomstick. Seriously, this movie lost all its’ credibility from the moment they’ve casted those people. Tom Felton may be an excellent Draco Malfoy, but if I were him I wouldn’t target a carreer in the horror genre.
It was the second time we’ve watched this movie and I understand now why I entirely forgot about its’ existence. Not worth wasting your time.
This is the second best horror movie we’ve watched during this years’ Easter holidays.
I don’t want to spoil anything so, in short, the movie is about an exorcism gone wrong. Despite its extremely bad rating, I kind of enjoyed it. Granted, it may not be the best of its genre, but if you like exorcism, it’s worth the watch. Thumbs up for the not so happy ending cause this is where The Vatican Tapes stands out from others. The conclusion has an open end, maybe with the intention of a sequel. But in general, the movie is satisfactory with an appropriate use of handycam and surveillance video.
Maybe not the most scary of all exorcism movies out there but, like I’ve mentioned before, I’ve enjoyed it nevertheless.

Regardless of the amazing reviews I’ve read about The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I though it was just “meh”. It has something that made me continue watching it but, other than that, I have nothing interesting to say about this one. Granted, the casting may be excellent, but it doens’t change the fact that the story is too slow and underdeveloped.
Towards the end, things tend to get a little bit more violent, but it’s done in such a cheap slasher way that it contradicts the kind of ambiance they’re trying to build. It’s a very bleak and fairly uninteresting movie that isn’t scary at all.

Well, what can I say? This is worse than bad, it’s awful. So awful, we’ve skipped it after 10 minutes which makes it hard to say anything relevant about Incarnate. Even Aaron Eckhart hasn’t been able to make this movie shine in any way. Shelved and never to watch again.

Alright, this is where our “Easter holiday horror movie list” goes from bad to worse. Don’t Knock Twice is so bad that we fell asleep before we got to the middle of the story. I may not have seen the end, but I doubt that it would have been able to change my bad opinion.
I thought that the trailer looked good but, don’t let it fool you! Even Katee Sackhoff can’t make up for the annoying story and bad acting.
My opinion? Don’t watch once, and certainly don’t watch twice! It really isn’t worth it!
The Veil is about a religious cult that has committed mass suicide. Twenty Five years later, the lone survivor of this tragedy returns to the scene with a documentary crew in tow.
This may not be the best movie I’ve ever watched, but it remains one of the best ones I’ve watched during these Easter holidays. Good for a Saturday eve, but don’t expect too much. It’s a unique story since there aren’t that many movies out there about scary cults. The ambience builds up nicely throughout the movie and there are some nice plot twists towards the end. Also, Thomas Jane was quite convincing as a creepy cult leader. I definitely can recommend this one.
My advise is to ignore the bad reviews and give this movie a shot. Who would want to watch an Oscar-worthy horror movie anyway?

I wasn’t too much in the mood to watch Green Room, fearing another psychological drama happening entirely in one room. I was wrong!
An excellent camera work and a badass soundtrack sprinkled with a very convincing casting, that was the recipe of our great Saturday evening punk cake.
Trivia: Two Star Trek casting members play in the movie: Anton Yelchin and Patrick Stewart.
Worth also mentioning: Imogen Poots in the role of one of the sexiest, most badass skinhead I’ve ever seen!
If, like me, you enjoy a good punk song, I strongly advise this.
I still remember the first Blair Witch movie. I was alone in my little apartment and I got frightened beyond expectations, I didn’t sleep well that night…
The second episode was entertaining but far from being creepy.
Then comes the third chapter. We heard a lot about it before its release, then nothing anymore. The reviews weren’t good and people moved on.
We’ve finally watched it last saturday and, while it wasn’t as original as the first, it still managed to creep us good. I didn’t sleep well that night, nor did my wife.
